Our blog is officially back up and running and you know what that means? Construction! And lots of it.
The contract has been signed and construction will hopefully begin next week. The facility board has a massive project planned for this summer. We have been working with HQ and Karen Ledbetter to design an entirely new house. No more mauve plaid chairs, no more brady bunch wall, and no more blue carpet. We'll post pictures throughout the summer to keep everyone informed on the progress.
Our plans include, but are not limited to, a new entryway on the front of the house, all new flooring on the first level, complete remodel of the mail room and small guest bathroom, reface the fireplace, remove and rebuild cabinets (aka the Brady Bunch wall) all new furniture in the living room and dining room, and some much needed repairs to the facility director's suite. We'll also be doing minor upgrades around the house that will include the townie bathroom, upgraded wifi, mattresses, desk chairs, etc. We are dreaming big this year as it is already June 2nd and this all needs to be back in one piece by mid August!
For those of you that have not had a chance to visit the house for a while it's really looking different. Since I have been a member of facility board (2008) we have remodeled the basement tv room, see previous posts from a few years ago, replaced the carpet in the hallway on the upper level, purchased new bedroom furniture, new driveway, and last summer we finally removed the mauve wall paper from the dining room!
Also, just a quick employee update, Denise Quist has been a wonderful house mom for the last 12 years but sadly she has decided to pursue a new adventure and completed her work at upsilon two weeks ago. She will be traveling for a few weeks this summer before starting work at the hospital in Maple Grove. We wish her well and will miss all the fun times we've had with her over the years. Crazy to think I sat in on the interviews when she was hired!
