Bedroom furniture has arrived!

The new beds and desks were delivered last week, here is my daughter, Kaitlyn, checking out the new furniture.

Finally, a floor for the basement!

Whenever we do a remodel project we run into unexpected issues. Our original plan was to stain the concrete in the basement TV room. There was a problem getting the carpet glue off the floor so we had to go to plan B. We didn't want to go back to carpet in that room so we chose an oak laminate flooring. Denise, Leah, and Leah's husband Andy got their workout carrying 42 cases of flooring and underlayment down stairs last night.

how Theta alumnae spend their Friday night...

Trying to finish up painting the bedroom trim a couple of Fridays ago, three alumnae (one not even on the FCB!) spent a few hours painting. We made a pretty good dent then finally finished up in the next few days!

The TV room progress

The TV room has been painted. We are no longer going to be staining, we are currently looking at flooring options for this room. Once we decide what will be done I'll update everyone.

Bedrooms

Many of the bedrooms are done being painted. Only one room in the main hallway and the three rooms in the back hallway remain. Once the final details are finished we'll start putting the furniture back. Here are pictures to show each of the four colors. The beds in rooms 1,2, and 4 were removed over the weekend. New beds will be delivered to these rooms on Friday. New desks will be going into room 2 (one of the triples)

Bathroom Paint

The bathroom paint is almost complete, only the stall doors and painting the cabinet remain. Notice the old hand towels are missing!

The FCB was hoping to be able to remodel the bathroom this year but since we've decided to focus on the bedrooms and basement we will have to wait. In order to freshen up the room we are painting the stalls and walls. The color for the walls will be "Kilim Beige" by Sherwin Williams. The fish border is being taken down and the wire racks for the bath caddies are being replaced.

Bedrooms

As soon as the basement floor and walls are finished the painting int he bedrooms will begin. The walls will be painted "Kilim Beige" from Sherwim Williams. Each room will have one accent wall. The color samples are above.

A few of the board members and alums in the area have been working on prepping the rooms for paint over the past few weeks. The trim around the closets and doors were in bad shape with many different shades of paint splattered on them. In order to clean that up we decided to paint all of the trim white, this will match the new white trim that was put up with the windows.

The prep work is almost complete, the FCB will be at upsilon again on Saturday, July 10th from 8:30-1:00. Please stop by if you have free time and would like to help out.

Our "Blank Canvas"

Work will begin on July 12th in the basement. We've selected the color of the wall, purchased a 42 inch flat screen tv and wall mount, and ordered the furniture from HOM furniture. The carpet will be removed early next week. Once the floor is stained and the walls are painted we will have the furniture delivered.

Painting, painting, and more painting

If anyone is interested in helping out, we will be at theta on Wednesday, July 7th around 5:00 pm to finish priming and painting the trim in the bedrooms. We also need to take down some shelves and mirrors in the bedrooms and the wire shelving in the bathroom so the painters can start on the walls.
